All Mixed Up
by Jessica FaccinVerbal biracial microaggressions are comments or questions that unconsciously insult people with parents from different ethnic backgrounds. All Mixed Up addresses microaggressions towards Eurasian individuals. With the fetishisation of Eurasian individuals in recent years, biracial microaggressions have become normalised, often perceived as compliments by perpetrators. Yet the underlying implications of casual comments can be detrimental to the mental wellbeing and social identity of biracial individuals. This project uses visual metaphor and word play to draw attention to this social issue in an office scenario, and invites people to change their own attitudes.
